Family photographer in Ruislip and all over West London: outdoor and at-home sessions

I'm Áine, a family photographer covering Ruislip, Ealing, Harrow, Northwood, Eastcote, Ickenham and the rest of West London. The question I get asked most is "should we do it at home or outside?" Fair. Both are lovely, and they feel quite different.

Outdoor family sessions

West London is annoyingly good for this. Woodland, lakes, big open parks, all a short drive apart.

In Ruislip, Ruislip Woods gives you dappled light and puddles to jump in. Ruislip Lido has space and a big sky. Eastcote House Gardens is calmer and a bit more tucked away. Over in Ealing, Walpole Park, Horsenden Hill and Gunnersbury Park are both great for families, with plenty of room to run and some lovely old buildings for backdrops.

Outdoors suits kids who need to move. A toddler who won't sit still on the sofa will happily run at a tree, and I'll follow them. Sometimes the best photo of the whole session is the back of a wellie.

At-home family sessions

Home is where your family actually lives, mess included. Kitchen table, messy bedroom, the corner of the sofa where everyone piles on. It's a gentle option for newborns and babies, and for anyone who goes a bit stiff around a camera. Window light does most of the work.

You don't need to tidy. I mean it. I've seen the state of my own house.

So which one?

Babies and newborns tend to be happiest at home. Toddlers and older kids often do better outside, with room to roam. If you're torn, message me and we'll figure it out together. There's no wrong answer.

I photograph families across Ruislip, Eastcote, Ickenham, Northwood, Hillingdon, Harrow, Ealing, Wembley, Brent, Rickmansworth, Watford and Gerrards Cross. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask. I'm often happy to travel a bit further.

What the session feels like

No forced smiles. No "everyone look at the camera and say cheese." I spent years working with young people before picking up a camera, so I'm decent at reading a room, and a wobbly mood, and I'll let things unfold rather than herd everyone into position.

You'll get photos that look like your family on a normal, slightly chaotic, actually lovely day.
