I’m Áine
(Pronounced Awn-ya)
Photography for me is a part of life… a way to honour the passing of time, to hold onto what matters, and to remember that life can shift in the blink of an eye… or the click of a shutter.
I was born in Ireland, raised in London, spent years living in Australia and am married to a wonderful man of Jamaican descent a patchwork of places and people that have shaped how I see the world. My background is rooted in care: working with children and teenagers, supporting families, and walking alongside people navigating the harder edges of life. That has taught me that everyone has a story, and every story deserves to be seen.
I’m a photographer, a mother to three incredible humans (17, 14 & 12) and a lover of stories. My kids came along during my twenties and in many ways, we’ve grown up together. They have taught me how quickly life passes and how precious a moment is.
My great-grandfather captured this photo of my mother and aunt in ‘Paradise’—a real place in Co. Clare as he proudly noted: ‘Not every Grandfrander can boast of photographing his grandchildren in Paradise.’
Why Anam?
Anam means soul in Irish – and that’s exactly what I’m here to capture.

The connection to Ireland and photography is strong, my great-grandfather was a photographer and I adore looking back at the incredible photos he captured.
I’m not here for stiff poses or perfect smiles. I’m here for muddy boots, belly laughs and wild freedom. I want to freeze time for you, just for a moment, so you can remember not just how things looked - but how they felt.
Anam Photography is still growing, just like me. It's my love letter to life - imperfect, vibrant, full of soul.
